I don’t want your telecare —
this is what I want....please!

Dan Lingard, CEO, Melton Health Care Ltd

The Vision – it’s “My Care, My Health, and My Choice”

There is no longer a single ‘care solution’ for the needs of an individual. Great care is going to need a ‘mix and match’ of services to deliver effective and valued results. Care providers will have to get out of their encampments and embrace this change. To be a care provider of the future, we need to focus on what is best for the individual and work out how to deliver this. There are many examples of this happening today.

However, this is a challenge for the regulators and commissioners of services too. Their response, or lack of it, will hold back this process.

Dan will explain why, in our plans for the future, technology is fundamental to delivering dramatic change and improvement in services and in attitudes. However, after 2 years of market research his team could not find any solution to fully match this emerging view of future care and healthcare. What they found was that services and products were often:

1.      not integrated – they worked in a person’s home but could not be used so easily in a Care Home or Day Centre;

2.      “dumb” – unable to differentiate between the cared for and the carers or visitors;

3.      expensive – equipment costs remain prohibitive; and

4.      complex – solutions and even more complex brochures.

Having presented the findings of their pilot research, Dan will explain the specification that was established as a result.
