Commissioning integrated local services, which include telecare and telehealth — as people use the PT Grant in England, this now becomes the main aim.

Mike will explain why organisations should be moving to mainstreamed, sustainable services using telecare and telehealth as appropriate to meet the needs of their local populations, and linking into his presentation aspects of self-care, self-directed support, direct payments and individual budgets.

He will also:

• provide some update information on overall use of the PT grant, then look at some of the challenges/issues and how they are being overcome;
• briefly mention the White Paper Demonstrators;
• uncover some of the important aspects of commissioning services using current grant and resources available to local authorities and their partners;
• discuss the balance of 'user-assessed' versus 'preventative' versus 'targeted’ approaches;
• highlight examples of how organisations are using the grant
  effectively, where there is particular innovation, news on late starters, telehealth developments, services for different user groups where people are drawing in other funding etc.
